Portugal is a city that maintains its traditional being and, at the same time, cultivates a modern spirit. For this reason, in 2017, the first Biennal of Contemporary Arts (BoCA) has been organized. From 17th of March to 30th of April, many events will take place simultaneously in Lisbon and in Porto, in order to promote contemporary art: visual arts, performing arts and music will be the absolute protagonists. The spaces chosen for the event are various, both normal and unusual: museums, theaters, galleries and night clubs, that today represent the places of socialization, of communication and of distraction from ordinary life. BoCA is an initiative to think about the present and the future socio-cultural environment, and it involves many important institutions as Chiado National Museum of Contemporary Art, MAAT, ZDB Gallery, National Theatre D. Maria II, in Lisbon, and Teatro Municipal do Porto - Rivoli, Serralves Foundation, National Theatre São João in Porto. These partnerships guarantee the good quality of the program.
In Lisbon, one of the most interesting location is Casa-Animal, a construction that shares the same qualities of a shelter, a stable and a chapel. There, is possible to take part to film projections, installations, and talks.
Considering that is the first edition of the Biennal, we suggest you to participate in order to be the first spectators and reporters of this special event.
