This week we walked down the colorful streets of Bairro Alto, one of the most ancient parts of the city. Our teacher Beatriz explained us how the district was born, when during the Middle Age sailors was looking for new spaces because the city was too crowded, and how it evolved in the following centuries. In Bairro Alto many storylines intersect, Fado songs echo between buildings and people wait for the night, when a new life begins.
We hope that you pleasantly discovered a new part of the Lisbon history, practiced your Portuguese and, why not, relaxed at the Miradouro de Santa Catarina, under the today’s fantastic sun. Stay tuned, because we are planning our next tour! To see the pictures, please click on the first one below.
