Palacio National de Sintra
This gothic palace is located in the heart of Sintra and was the most visited royal palace of the whole country. It has a very convenient position within the centre of Sintra and was constructed on the site of an ancient Moorish castle. Rooms are amazingly decorated with brilliant painting and the interior style is base on a strong Arabic influences.
Castelo dos Mouros
The Moors Castle is a restored castle set in the middle of the forests of Sintra which offers tourists and local people wonderful views over the region. It dates from the 9th century and was built by the North Africa Moors to protect the fertile lands of Sintra, very beneficial for the whole area.
Quinta da Regaleira
It’s a 19th century extravagant gothic mansion being constructed by the once richest man of Portugal. The principal attraction of the place are the elegant gardens which are also provided with an impressive tunnel system. Hidden throughout the grounds are secretive religious symbols, concealed gardens, and other mysterious objects.
Palacio da Pena
This worthy palace was commissioned, in 1842, by King Ferdinand II who was passionate of literature, music and arts. Its interior reminds the last days of the Portuguese monarchy. Many of the original features and decorative furniture still remain in the same locations almost untouched for a 100 years
Parque Nacional de Pena
This park is a stunning surrounding of the Pena Palace in Sintra. Across the park, it is possible to have several nice walks through forests and gardens full of plants, flowers and a maze made of trees. The highest summit of the Serra de Sintra is a pleasant walk of less than half an hour. From that sport, you may have the opportunity to take wonderful pictures by benefiting from the panorama.
