Finally the most awaited tour arrived! Walking up and down the Lisbon hills, Beatriz described us the fairy-tale world of the Portuguese kings and queens. We discovered that the word “Portugal” comes from the Romanic word “Portus Cale”, the first city of Portugal after the Roman conquest of the area from Carthaginians. Cale was a small city situated in the Nort of the country, and when Romans arrived they called it Port of Cale because of its proximity to the ocean. We also discovered that most of the time the world of kings and queens is not so faboulous: murders, incests, betrayals usually characterize the past, but maybe it’s because of them that the past is so interesting.
