Festival de Cinema Itinerante da Língua Portuguesa: an experience through the Lusophone cinema culture
From the 27th of February to the 6th of March 2018, Lisbon will host the 9th edition of FestIn (Festival de Cinema Itinerante da Língua Portuguesa). Our Portuguese language school is pleased to invite you to take part in this incredible festival. As in previous years, this event will take place at the São Jorge Cinema .
Throughout Portugal’s long history, Portuguese culture has affected a number of other countries. Lusophone culture has its roots in Portugal but has influenced Brazilian and African culture and watching film projects related to these cultures is a chance to discover a fascinating new world.
This festival is a way to give to African Lusophone countries the opportunity to have a voice in cinematography. In this way the poorest countries have the chance to participate to this international event. They can present their own issues but also the beauty of an unknown world.
This year, amongst the Portuguese projects presented, there will be operas from the “Berlinale” and a partnership with the “Festival de Guiões”. There will be a competition with nine fiction feature films, nine documentaries and sixteen short films, sessions dedicated to Brazilian cinema and a brand new one, which extends submissions to countries with Latin-derived languages.
If your intention is to learn Portuguese in Lisbon, the 9th edition of FestIn is an excellent way to learn while having fun. You will get a chance to practice your Portuguese listening skills to include Brazilian Portuguese, African Portuguese and European Portuguese while watching interesting films.
Keep in touch through our newsletter and you will be updated on all the cultural and other events hosted in Lisbon. We look forward to your participation.
